“The Trufflepot Gang are almost ready to open their clubhouse doors… but you’ve just found the secret way in.”

An utterly charming story with characters you can root for!
I have always been happy to read across a wide range of genres, if it’s a good story, well told. Chris’s book fits that description to a T. All the characters in the Trufflepot Gang were wonderful, brought to life by the vivid storytelling and the colourful illustrations. It’s a story that is not written down to its audience, it gently guides without preaching, and shows the value of friendship and determination to achieve your aims. Sure to delight both the young and the young-at-heart.

We are just home from our holiday and I read your book to the entire family at Braxtons bed time… much excitement about name drop in Chapter 4. And we all loved it!… lovely ending, and great use of interesting vocabulary throughout. I didn’t want to comment until we had done it justice. It’s fabulous!… and we look forward to a new adventure for the Trufflepot Gang!

The Character Corners are brilliant! All the special skills and fun facts made me laugh — especially Heny’s age (who dares ask?). They were such a lovely touch and a fabulous stop-gap between the action.

You are truly talented, Chris. The way you describe emotions and set the scene — all the senses: smells, visuals, sounds — it helps you completely fall into the story. It has an Enid Blyton feel (even though I’ve never read her!) — that sense of adventure, mystery, and friendship working together to solve a problem.

‘Home and Heart’ was my favourite chapter. It warmed me most. We live in such a siloed world, but your message of understanding and not judging others — that not all magpies are thieves — was incredible. It really stayed with me.

Oh, and the title! My brain initially read ‘Tick-Tock’ as ‘TikTok’ and I thought we were diving into social media… but once I started reading, I realised it was absolutely perfect.

The stories are beautifully pitched for all children. They include a range of likable characters, who tackle life’s challenges with a resilience that inspires all. The setting – Westrop Farm – evokes a rural, almost whimsical feel and this, aligned with the carefully crafted references to the modern world, provides a great contrast to those starting out on life’s journey. The impressive writing style and use of humour brings the stories to life and makes you want an invitation to be part of that wonderful Trufflepot Gang.

Hi Chris,

Just sitting at Palma airport finishing reading your book!!
A beautiful, heart warming tale from our farm, wonderfully written, kept me entertained and was extra special given it’s about the farm dogs we all know!!!

The opening paragraph setting the scene with the nasty Reggie was excellent!

Nothing more to add really other than looking forward to the next one! 😊

Hi Chris, finished reading your book and it’s very good. I love the fact you can carry on with more stories for the gang and that they are an excellent mix of characters, well done.

Hello Chris,

We have finished reading “The trufflepot Gang – The curious case of the missing tick-tock” and I must say it is really good, very well written. The little team of friends and detectives are very cute and endearing. Carl also really liked the scary rat (it was an excellent idea to choose a rat as the thief).

We can’t wait to read Gwen’s new adventures.

“A brilliant, joyful read!”

We just finished The Curious Case of the Missing Tick-Tock over the weekend — and we’re both big fans! It was such a joy seeing the real-life dogs we know and love brought to life in your story. Their personalities shine through brilliantly, and it felt like they’d walked right off the page.

There’s a beautiful charm to the writing — it’s clever, warm, and pitch-perfect for readers of all ages. We found ourselves debating who exactly it’s aimed at, but the truth is, it’s a story that anyone with a heart will love.

We’re thoroughly looking forward to reading more — especially if Archie the dog appears in a future adventure!

Hi Chris

I read your first book cover to cover last night, once started I could not put it down.

Wow just wow.. loved all of the characters, storyline and the illustrations. So looking forward to seeing your merchandise and future books.

Neb reminded me so much of our puppy Yogi. If ever she needs a friend feel free to use him as a character 😂.
